She is a beginner to the program, but as an instructor (and a mom to a six year old daughter and three year old son) I see the value of introducing coding to children in order to foster their curiosity of science, math, and computational understanding from a young age. This program is user friendly, even my then four year old daughter enjoyed "telling stories" with the app!

She would like to share this new appreciation with other students in hopes that a program like Scratch (who promotes coding through storytelling) can be used to promote an interest in STEM/STEAM to all students (especially girls).

Activity:

Art through coding! Have you ever wondered how animations are made? How things more so flawlessly on screen? Is the object limited to movement, or can we create something with purpose? Maybe we could use the animations to draw shapes, or maybe the animation could help us solve our math homework! Whether you are new to the program or are an avid coder - Scratch is for all levels!

Requirements: Internet and a device to use scratch. Also needed is space to listen and move when needed (ie floor space around each participant).
